Seeing John Mayer in Amsterdam

If you know me at all, you know that I have a long history with John Mayer. Back when my classmates were obsessing over the Jonas Brothers, I was obsessing over John. I know he is a huge favorite among so many people across the world, but he truly was a huge influence over my younger years and high school days that is still going strong today – if you were at our wedding, I walked down the aisle to his “XO” cover since Chris sent me that song when we first started dating. In 2010, me and a couple of my girlfriends (Josie always fed into our love for John) took a road trip to Columbus, Ohio to see our first John Mayer concert and it literally was the best night of our lives for a very long time. Since then, I have seen him two more times, and this one was my fourth.

When he announced his world tour I freaked out – “Chris, we HAVE to see John Mayer in freakin’ AMSTERDAM!”

So, we got tickets for his first night in Amsterdam, October 9th (also the exact date that Chris proposed to me two years ago) and enjoyed another night of John Mayer live with another couple that decided to get tickets and join us. The concert was at the Ziggo Dome which was pretty nice inside and the main theme was “Heineken” – when in Amsterdam… 🍺

I’ll always cherish the memory of seeing JM in Europe, just like I was thankful to see Kacey Musgraves and Elton John while living here. I won’t forget the chills after Chris and I both looked at each other after he started singing the first line of “In the Blood” because for the first time (after listening to the song countless of times) we realized how personal that song is to us and our family life. They are moments that I’ll never forget, and since Chris and I love going to concerts, it’s just another great bucket list item for us to check off the list.
